September 2020 site updates

Some things I want to do with hamster.dance soon, as a reminder to myself more than anything:
- Shut down the MUSH. I like the idea of a MUSH but I don’t actually have the time to work on one or supervise it at all, so there’s nothing really going on there.
- Set up at least a page dedicated to my podcast, The World on a Wire Show. Right now, the show itself is hosted on Podbean and episode transcripts are hosted on Patreon. I think I’d like to mirror the episode transcripts here on hamster.dance. I’m planning to release the third episode in a few days, on 21 September 2020, although it’s already available to Patreon patrons now. I don’t know how long the Patreon will run; I’m not sure yet if I’m capable of really running my podcast as a money-making or financially self-supporting business, and not as a hobby I operate sporadically as I have time for it and at a financial loss, which is what it is now.
- Post to the blog an essay I wrote for a sociology class last year, which just kinda situates my boring life in a historical/political/social context. I’d just post it right now, but I’m in the middle of expanding it to cover the last few years.
In the longer term I’m considering migrating the site to a NixOS VPS, implementing a collaborative hypertext gamebook, and hosting some of my own interactive fiction here. I’d also like to have some kind of Gopher or Gemini mirror of my blog, but I don’t know if I currently have the time to maintain such a thing in addition to the HTML-over-HTTP version.
